Correspondence, minutes, treatises, reports, accounts, and pamphlets of the predecessors of the Albany Institute of History and Art. Of note are papers read before the Society for the Promotion of Agriculture, Arts and Manufactures by Ezra L'Hommedieu, Samuel L. Mitchill, Simeon DeWitt, Robert Livingston, and others, 1791-1804. Other predecessors of the Institute include the Society for the Promotion of Useful Arts, 1804-23; Albany Lyceum of Natural History, 1823-24; Albany Institute, 1824-99; Albany Historical and Art Society, 1886-1900; and the Albany Institute and History and Art Society, 1900-25.
